Description

A classic chocolate sheet cake topped with fudge icing, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup butter
  • 4 Tbsp cocoa
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 Tbsp cocoa
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup coconut flakes

Instructions

  1. Bring the first three ingredients to a boil.
  2. In a bowl combine the dry ingredients (sugar, flour, soda, and salt). Mix in the hot cocoa mixture.
  3. Then add the buttermilk, vanilla, and eggs and beat well.
  4. Pour batter into a greased sheet pan and bake at 325°F for 25-30 minutes.
  5. In a small saucepan bring all the fudge icing ingredients to a boil and pour over cooled cake.
  6. Let cake set in the fridge until icing stiffens. Cut into squares before serving.
