- 1 large head green cabbage (for pliable leaves)
- 1 lb shrimp (fresh)
- 1 cup jasmine rice (cooked)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tbsp ginger (grated)
- 3 stalks green onions (chopped)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- to taste salt
- to taste pepper
- 1 cup broth (vegetable or chicken)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp honey (or brown sugar)
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (mixed with water)
Instructions
- Prepare Cabbage Leaves: Blanch 12 cabbage leaves in boiling water for 2 minutes, then plunge them into ice water.
- Mix Filling: In a large bowl, combine shrimp, jasmine rice, garlic, ginger, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper.
- Assemble Rolls: Spoon filling onto each cabbage leaf, fold sides in, and roll tightly. Place seam-side down in a baking dish.
- Steam Bake: Pour broth around rolls, cover with foil, and bake at 375°F for 25-30 minutes.
- Prepare Glaze: Whisk together glaze ingredients in a small saucepan and heat until thickened.
- Finish: Brush rolls with glaze, sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions, and serve warm.
Notes
- For more flavor, add minced herbs and spices to the filling as desired.
- Ensure cabbage leaves are wilted enough to roll easily.
